Most visitors treat Nagakute as a single stop: ride out, see Ghibli Park, ride back. The town rewards a fuller day. Here is a relaxed plan that makes the most of it.

Morning — arrive early

Take the subway to Fujigaoka and the Linimo out, aiming to arrive about an hour before your timed entry. Use the buffer to walk the free Japanese garden and pond paths in the Aichi Expo Memorial Park while they are quiet — most visitors skip them entirely.

Midday — your primary area

Enter your main booked area and take it slowly. The park rewards looking rather than rushing, and the detail is the point. Budget real time for walking between areas — the routes wind through genuine forest and take longer than the maps suggest.

The meal rule

Eat at 11:00 or after 14:00, never in between. The park's food outlets are charming but overwhelmed at midday. The Expo lawns welcome a convenience-store picnic — the locals' move.

Afternoon — the car museum or the gardens

One Linimo stop away sits the Toyota Automobile Museum, a superb and rarely crowded collection spanning the history of the car. Alternatively, stay in the parkland — in early summer the iris gardens bloom, and the forest trails are lovely in any season.

Evening — back to Nagoya

Nagakute quiets early. Ride back to the city and eat properly — miso katsu or hitsumabushi eel are the regional signatures worth seeking out.

If you have no park tickets

Come anyway. The Expo park is free, large, and beautiful, and this plan works without a single Ghibli Park ticket in hand.
